Investigators into the million-dollar daylight robbery staged by masked men at the Piarco International Airport on Wednesday remained tight-lipped yesterday as they launched their probe into the matter.

Police, however, noted they have questioned several people with regard to the matter.

Newsday was told that high-ranking officers had been selected to conduct the investigation, however, no-one had yet been arrested in connection to the crime.

Police added they were now trying to confirm whether or not the vehicle used in the robbery was a stolen one. That determination may be the first clue that police would have to work on, as they have not yet gotten any leads.

On Wednesday at about 11.25, four masked men drove through the unguarded entrance of the docking area of the airport, intercepted a First Citizens’ Bank transport containing $5 million, took the cash at gunpoint and escaped.

Before police had time to respond, the bandits had already made off with the cash.
