Man charged with raping mentally challenged child

A Belmont man has been granted bail for a charge of sexually penetrating a child that police described as mentally challenged.

Elvis Sitney, aka ‘Cat’, 58, of Upper Belmont Valley Road, appeared before Port of Spain Magistrate Adia Mohammed earlier today for the offence which was said to have occurred on December 3.

He was granted bail in the amount of $150,000.

Sitney was ordered to stay away from and make no contact with the victim. He was charged by WPC Elnora Wright of the Child Protection Unit, Port of Spain Division on Tuesday.
