Man, 56, granted $80,000 bail for touching girl, 16

A Laventille man was granted $80,000 bail after appearing before a Port of Spain magistrate charged with indecent assault against a 16-year-old girl.

The offence is alleged to have taken place between May 1 and June 30.

Samuel Franklin, 56, of Upper Laventille, is also charged with sexually touching the girl on November 27.

He appeared before Magistrate Adia Mohammed in the Port of Spain Magistrates Court on Monday and was ordered to return to court on December 13.

Bail was granted on the condition that he does not communicate with the victim, directly or indirectly, or go within 500 metres of her or her home.

Franklin was charged by constables Joel Frederick and Elnora Wright of the Child Protection Unit of the Port of Spain Division.
