For making of millionaires?

THE EDITOR: The plan to develop Toco, an area far away from the heart of the nation’s commercial areas, is, in my opinion, another opportunity for many, including new contractors, to become overnight millionaires at the expense of taxpayers.

Not only that, the constant upkeep and maintenance of the roads leading to Toco is going to cost an arm and a leg. I can visualise the local road contractors already rubbing their hands all the way to the bank.

This idea could be seen as a way of wasting public money which only benefits the wealthy.

It has the trademark of other mad and expensive ideas which would have made more rich individuals. Ideas such as building a tunnel through the hills of Maracas and building a causeway from Port of Spain to Chaguaramas.

Why can’t the money earmarked for this unnecessary project be put to a good cause like improving the living conditions of poor citizens, such as those living in many of the strongholds of the PNM?
