Vendors losing goods at market

THE EDITOR: I have been selling at the Point Fortin Market for a number of years. From time to time vendors including myself have lost small items of market goods. Several reports were made to the security officer at the market and to the borough corporation authorities but nothing was done to assist us.

Over the last six months, we have been missing larger items. One vendor reported that she lost two large bags of potatoes. Other vendors have lost boxes of saltfish and tomatoes, among other items.

The security officer reports for duty at 4 pm each day and leaves at 6 am the next day. I have tried locating him after 9 pm without success. If the officer is alert he would be able to see who is entering the market at nights and stealing our goods.

On behalf of all vendors, I am asking that the authorities assist us as we are suffering heavy losses.
