A medical certificate has been submitted for Piarco corruption-accused Sadiq Baksh, who collapsed in the Port of Spain Magistrates Court and had to be taken to hospital last Friday.

Although the nature of Baksh’s illness was not revealed, his doctors have advised that he should have bed rest for a few days. Special prosecutor Elaine Greene presented a medical certificate to presiding magistrate Ejenny Espinet on Baksh’s behalf.

Baksh was giving evidence in his defence when he collapsed. He was taken to the Port of Spain General Hospital by ambulance and, after a series of tests, was released the next day.

The inquiry has now been adjourned to next Friday. Before the court are Steve Ferguson and Ishwar Galbaransingh, along with former UNC ministers Brian Kuei Tung and Baksh, former Airports Authority chairmen Tyrone Gopee and Ameer Edoo and Galbaransingh’s former employee Amrith Maharaj. Galbaransingh and Ferguson’s companies Northern Construction Ltd and Maritime General Insurance are also parties to the inquiry.
