Students get $250,000 in scholarships

Five students of the University of the West Indies (UWI) shared in $250,000 donated by Island Finance TT (Caribbean Financial) through its annual Scholarship Award Programme.

Last Thursday, the students each received $50,000 towards their educational expenses of books, food and other educational materials at The UWI.

The students who received the donations are Brithany Pajie, Joselle Ali, Faaria Badal, Abigail Nelson and Gregory Isaac.

According to Gladston Cuffie, country manager of Island Finance TT, “Our company has a structure focused on corporate values that are the core of who we are and what we represent. Education is part of our values and we are very pleased to be able to offer these scholarships to students who really want to get on their feet and establish a career.”

Students who fit a pre-determined criteria are evaluated and considered for the awards. The company will also provide these students with an internship to complete their practice in a professional environment.

Cuffie said, “For more than 15 years Island Finance has been giving service to people in need of hassle-free loans and we will continue bringing the best for our community and customers.”
