Sadiq Baksh was yesterday discharged from and left the Port of Spain General Hospital after collapsing while giving testimony at the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Baksh, a former United National Congress minister of works and transport, was accused of corruption in the construction of the “new” Piarco airport.

Baksh, 67, collapsed in the witness box while giving evidence at the Piarco II preliminary inquiry before Senior Magistrate Ejenny Espinet. He was moved to a bench where he retched into a plastic bag. Emergency medical technicians took him to hospital where he was warded in the intensive care unit.
