Team Fixers return to court

Team PSA Fixers and the Public Services Association (PSA) election committee have asked for additional time to sort out a couple of outstanding concerns the former has with the electoral process for the union’s elections.

Members of the Fixers returned to Justice Christine Kangaloo yesterday afternoon, when they said there were some issues still to be agreed to and asked for additional time.

They will now return to court next week Thursday, hopefully with an agreed position and a new election date.

Earlier in the day, the lawyers told the judge they were still in mediation talks and hoped to arrive at an agreed position by 1 pm, when the matter was recalled. Two Fridays ago the Fixers obtained an injunction which led to last Monday’s elections being postponed.

Last week Tuesday, both sides told Justice Nadia Kangaloo they were having mediation talks to address the Fixers’ complaints.

The Fixers have complained of a breach of election rules and the union’s constitution in allowing voters who are not eligible to vote.

There are four teams contesting the election – the Game Changers, led by incumbent president Watson Duke; United Public Officers, led by Oral Saunders; the Fixers, led by Solomon Gabriel; and Team Sentinel, led by Nixon Callender – and some 14,000 members in the PSA.
