Carmona to swear in three judges today

Three new judges are expected to be sworn in today by President Anthony Carmona at the Office of the President.

The three, sources said, are three former magistrates Sharon Gibson, Gail Gonzales and Indira Ramsumair-Hinds The appointments come at a time when the Law Association is holding public consultations on the constitutional arrangements pertaining to the selection and appointment of judges. The committee was established after the imbroglio surrounding the appointment of former chief magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar as a judge in April. The committee is tasked with making recommendations to ensure there is transparency in the process.
