Body found floating in Gulf yet to be identified

The decomposing body of a man was discovered floating in the Gulf of Paria on Monday evening. Reports said the body was found near Mosquito Creek, La Romaine. According to a police report, at about 6 pm a fisherman spotted the body floating.

Several concrete blocks were fastened to it with a chain and the man’s feet were also bound. Investigators believe the killers tried unsuccessfully to sink the body.

At about 6.30 pm the Coast Guard retrieved the body, which was later taken to the Forensic Science Centre. The man wore a green jersey, jeans and black and white sneakers.

Up to late yesterday evening the body remained unidentified. Police are seeking the public’s in identifying the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact the nearest police station.
