Landslides, homes flooded

The Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) received 12 reports of minor incidents on Tuesday after hours of rainfall from Monday, and overnight into Tuesday morning. Six reports involved residential damages, TEMA Director Allan Stewart said.

Stewart said one person suffered minor injuries after a tree fell in James Park around 4 pm on Tuesday evening. Landslides were reported in Castara and Parlatuvier along the main roads, and motorists were marooned in the vehicles at Windsor Trace, Mt St George when a landslide blocked the roadway.

A home in the Big Hole area Goodwood was flooded, and flash flooding occurred in Parlatuvier and Studley Park. At Bad Rock in Kendal, a landslide caused the road to become completely impassable and traffic was diverted through Zion Hil,l Belle Garden.

TEMA coordinated relief assistance with the Division of Infrastructure Quarries and the Environment, to clear roads and villagers in Goodwood were assisted in clean their homes.
