Guns, drugs found

A family of four, including a 17-year-old boy and a 53-year-old woman, was arrested in connection with the discovery of marijuana and a pistol on Tuesday.

St Joseph police conducted an exercise between 12.05 am and 5.30 am and went to a house at Lyndon Street in Curepe. The police executed a search warrant.

During a search, they found 100 grammes of marijuana and a nine-millimetre calibre pistol. Two men, aged 20 and 26, the teen and the woman were all arrested.

Later during the exercise, police searched a house in Maracas, St Joseph and found two kilos of marijuana worth $20,000. A 23-year-old man was arrested.

In Laventille, members of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) found a revolver and a quantity of marijuana off Picton Road. No arrest was made.

Later, IATF police were at Fatima Trace in Laventille when the saw two men walking through a track. On seeing the police trailing them, the men threw an object in the bushes and fled. The officers later found a revolver loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
