Police net drugs, guns and ammo in massive weekend sweep

In a massive sweep over the weekend, police netted guns and ammunition in various locations around Trinidad, according to a release issued yesterday.

Beginning on Friday, Point Fortin police discovered a Jennings .9 mm pistol and a quantity of ammunition tucked between tree roots, near Walker Street, Egypt village. The officers saw a black bag and found it contained the pistol and five rounds of .9mm ammunition. No one was arrested.

Later that evening, North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) officersarrested two men for the possession of marijuana in the San Juan district. In the first instance, a 33-year-old man from Upper Bushe street in San Juan was arrested for the possession of 4.4 grammes of marijuana and the second man, 37, from Akal Road, was arrested for the possession of 124 grammes of marijuana.
