Gas station supervisor detained for $160,000

A 26-year-old gas station female supervisor is assisting officers of the Port-of-Spain CID in connection with a $160,000 robbery that took place in the vicinity of First Citizens Bank (FCB) on Monday.

The woman has since confessed to police that she organised the robbery with others and is expected to be charged with several offences arising out of the incident. On Monday, two employees of the NP gas station, which is a sublet of FIDES group of companies, were on their way to deposit the $160,000 at the Maraval Road Branch of FCB when they were robbed of the cash.

The victims Ronaldo Mano and Ronald Zephyrine reported the matter to the St Clair Police and an investigation was carried out. Head of the Port of Spain CID, Acting Senior Superintendent Ajith Persad, along with Inspector Gokool, Sgt Anthony Williams, WPC Rodriguez and PCs Taylor, Fernando and Mayers began enquiries into the robbery.

After thorough investigations, officers detained the supervisor.

Police investigators said yesterday, that the stolen money was expected to be recovered soon. The female supervisor is expected to be charged today.
