Gafoor re-elected to Intl Tax Judges

Chairman of the Tax Appeal Board Anthony Gafoor has been re-elected for a one-year term to the board of the International Association of Tax Judges (IATJ), at the association’s annual conference in Helsinki, Finland.

This will be Gafoor’s second term after being originally elected in 2016.

The IATJ, according to a press release from the Tax Appeal Board, is the premier body of international tax judges and was founded in 2010.

Its membership is drawn from the most prestigious tax courts around the world.

Among countries represented are the USA, Canada, the UK and various member states of the EU including Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, India and various African countries including Nigeria and Kenya.

According to the press release, the IATJ board convened at least once a year to deliberate on prospective plans and imminent activities.

Among its assorted functions is the approval or denial of nation state membership into the association.
