‘Pepsi’ saddles feature race 1-2-3 at Santa Rosa

POPULAR trainer Harriram “Pepsi” Gobin saddled the first three in the feature race for horses rated 70 and over at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday.

His charge, Conquest Bespokie took up the running in the 1750 metres event after 600 metres and galloped on to a comfortable 2 ½ length victory ahead of stablemate Stockyard who was a further 4 1/4 lengths to the good of Errasuriz at the end.

It was a day of many suyrprise winners, ‘starting fro the day’s second race for the two-year-olds won by Fake News, who returned $11.15 and $3.85 on the tote.

Lil Marie followed in the very next race, with a dividend of $13.50 and $2.95, and Thepromise won to reward backers with $14.55 and $3.85But the biggest surprise winner was Big In Class who returned a dividend of $18.70 and $3.80 on the tote.

No jockey or trainer managed more than one winner on the day’s eight-race programme, run off on a fast track with all scheduled turf races off.
