STACY MOORE

A 21-year-old man, who was being sought by police after a 26-year-old woman reported that he and five others raped her last month, was arrested at Endeavour Road, Chaguanas on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on October 29 when she and a 29-year-old woman went to the home of a female friend at Boodram Street, Cunupia.

Police were told six men, one armed with a gun, entered the house at about 11pm and ordered the victim into the bedroom where they took turns raping her.

Although she cried out for help, the other woman told police she was afraid to intervene as she feared being killed.

The men left and the woman and her friend went to the Chaguanas Police Station and made a report.

The victim was medically examined and it was confirmed by the doctor that she was assaulted.

Chaguanas CID police, including Sgt Mohammed and others from the Major Crime Unit, interviewed several people and visited the house where the incident occurred.

Their investigations led them to Endeavour Road where the 21-year-old suspect was taken into custody. He is expected to be placed on an identification parade.

PC Singh of the Chaguanas CID is continuing investigations.
