London, UK based travel agents are briefed on Destination Tobago by Stephen Smith, left, at a training session hosted by the Division of Tourism at the World Travel Market 2017 in London, UK.

Destination Tobago kicked off its World Travel Market activities last week with a training session for 40 travel agents from London, UK. The session was hosted by the Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation to engage and educate travel agents on unique characteristics and experiences that await visitors to the island. The event was supported by UK sales staff from various Tobago hotels, including Coco Reef Resort & Spa, Blue Waters Inn, the Villas at Stonehaven and Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort; as well as one of the destination’s airline partners, Virgin Atlantic.

The event was interspersed with a programme of entertainment that featured cultural dances, drumming and the vocals of local personality Michael Baker.

Having provided these agents with pertinent facts on the destination, as well as enabling the hotels to do their training, the expectation is that the session instilled confidence within the agents to recommend Tobago to their clients as a unique and charming destination worth visiting, a release from the Division of Tourism said.

World Travel Market is hosted in London, UK every year and remains one of the largest travel trade shows in the world. For three days the travel industry converges under one roof to network, hold strategic meetings with key partners, learn about new technologies and trends in the travel industry, and plan for the upcoming year. The event closes on Wednesday.
