Chin Lee, Carter triumph at Subway Junior Tennis

Numerous players won two titles each when the Subway Junior Tennis Tournament 2017 concluded at the Trinidad Country Club in Maraval, yesterday.

Inara Chin Lee, Aidan Carter, Isabel Abraham, David Rodriguez, Yin Lee Assang and Isaiah Boxill each won two titles.

Chin Lee defeated Madeleine D’Arcy 4-1, 4-3 in the girls Under-10 singles final, before she teamed up with younger sister Abigail to win the girls Under-10 doubles final with a 4-1, 1-4, 10-5 victory over Abbigail Augustine and Eva Pasea.

Carter got past his doubles partner Adam Ramkissoon 6-2, 6-2 to claim the boys Under-18 singles title. The pair later joined forces to outlast Jaydon Alexis and Ethan Jeary 6-4, 6-4 in the senior boys doubles final.

Abraham was the top player in the girls Under-14 category. Firstly, she won the singles crown with a 2-6, 6-3, 10-6 win over Keesa Lee Young. The duo then renewed their friendship to defeat Aalisha Alexis and Cameron Wong 7-5, 6-2 for the girls Under-14 doubles title.

Rodriguez copped the boys Under-14 singles and doubles titles. He got past Ethan Wong 6-3, 6-3 for the singles crown, before Sebastian Sylvester joined Rodriguez to win the boys Under-14 doubles crown with a 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 win over Kyle Kerry and Wong.

Lee Assang won the girls Under-16 singles crown with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Victoria Koylass. Lee Assang and Koylass then continued the trend on the day when after playing each other in the singles category joined forces in the senior girls doubles final. The pair got past Anya King and Osenyonye Nwokolo 7-5, 3-6, 11-9. Boxill stole the show in the boys Under-10 category. He defeated Callum Koylass 4-2, 5-3 for the singles title, before capturing the doubles crown with Koylass after a 4-0, 5-4 win over Dylan Boocock and Logan Hamel-Smith. Also winning titles were Jordane Dookie and Nathan Valdez. Dookie won the girls Under-12 singles title, while Valdez was victorious in the boys Under-16 singles. And King snatched the girls Under-18 singles crown.

Girls Under-18 Round Robin: Thalia Skeene def Kimberly Sabga 6-0, 6-1; Anya King def Osenyonye Nwokolo 6-0, 6-3.
