Additional UK flight, 55 cruise calls among measures to boost tourism

An additional international flight to Tobago from the UK, 55 calls by cruise ships, and representation by a Tobago delegation to the World Travel Market in London were among initiatives announced by Tourism Secretary Nadine Stewart Phillips on Wednesday to shore up the island’s tourism sector.

Addressing the weekly media briefing in Calder Hall, Stewart Phillips said Thomas Cook flights will resume weekly from November 11 to April 2018, from Manchester, UK.

“Last winter, Thomas Cook would have made its first call to Tobago and it ran until April 2017, and now the flight will be reintroduced,” she said.

Caribbean Airlines currently flies directly from Tobago to JFK International on a Sunday, while British Airways and Virgin Atlantic provide twice weekly flights from the UK, and Condor flies to the island out of Germany, also twice weekly.
