Woman escapes abduction attempt

A Chase Village woman narrowly escaped being abducted and raped after she jumped out of a speeding car last Thursday morning.

Yvonne Ramdhan, 29, told police she entered a private car and asked the driver to take her to Chaguanas. She said the driver of the car turned into Joyce Road Extension, locked the car, and began speeding towards a lonely area.

The woman said she asked the driver to stop and drop her off but he continued driving.

Fearing for her life, Ramdhan said she jumped out of the car and suffered cuts and bruises.

Despite her injuries, she ran towards the main road near Joyce Road Extension and alerted another driver who took her to the Freeport Police Station.

A description of the driver was given and Ramdhan was taken to the Couva hospital where she was examined and discharged.

Freeport police are continuing enquiries.
