Sylvester gets revenge on Hadden in Subway Tennis

The Subway Junior Tennis Tournament continued yesterday at the Trinidad Country Club in Maraval where action continued throughout the various categories.

In the main draw of the Boys Under-12 category, Beckham Sylvester eliminated James Hadden in straight sets in a stunning turnaround of fortunes from Saturday’s round robin play when Hadden defeated Sylvester 1-4, 5-4 (3), 13-11. There was to be no repeat, though, as Sylvester again won the first set 4-1 but despite resistance from Hadden in the second set, he closed out the match 5-4 to send his opponent packing. In other Under-12 main draw results, Daniel Jeary defeated Alexander Chin 4-1, 4-0; Alexander Merry got the better of Leeum Chan Pak 4-1, 4-0; Tim Pasea secured victory over Lorcan Chan Pak 2-4, 5-3, 10-6.

In the Girls U-14, Daniella Orr got the better of Charlotte Ready 4-5, 5-3, 10-7. In the Boys equivalent, Drew Quashie found his opponent, Thomas Chung, difficult to get past as he fell victim 5-3, 4-0.

The Girls U-12 division saw Joy Augustine beating Kiera Youssef 2-4, 3-5, 14-12, while Jordane Dookie stormed back from a set down against Jaeda-Lee Daniel-Joseph to win 3-5, 4-1, 10-8.

The Boys 10 and Under main draw saw Ross Wortman whipping Dylan Boocock 1-4, 4-1, 10-4 and Callum Koylass strolled past Matthew Guedez 4-0, 5-3. In the Girls 10 and Under, Avila Marshall rallied over Abbigail Augustine 6-0 while Eva Pasea defeated Inara Chin Lee 6-2, and Abigail Chin Lee got the better of Isabella D’arcy 6-5. Action resumes on Friday.
