Nine Chaguanas vendors arrested

Nine people were arrested on Friday at the Chaguanas Main Road for vending on the pavement and on the roadway.

Police said, at about 2 pm, members of the Chaguanas Police Station warned vendors about pitching stalls on the pavement and on the road.

Five women and four men were arrested for illegally selling items such as slippers, clothing, vegetables and seasoning between Busy Corner and the retail market.

They were all charged with pitching stalls and blocking the free passageway.

The nine were taken to the nearby Chaguanas Police Station with their goods.

After the charges were laid, the vendors were granted their own bail in the sum of $500.

They are to appear in the Chaguanas Magistrates Court today.

The exercise was led by Inspector Gibson and included WPC Davish, PCs Shepard and Singh.
