PTSC buses delayed

Passengers using the the Public Service Transport Corporation (PTSC) bus service yesterday suffered significant delays in getting home as there were unconfirmed reports of drivers embarking on a go-slow due to late payment of their wages.

Newsday visited the PTSC City Gate hub in Port of Spain where there were long lines of passengers and no buses working for about 40 minutes. At 1.53 pm and then at 2.03 pm, two announcements over the public address system announced that the corporation was experiencing delays in all its services. Some passengers in the Montrose, Chaguanas queue told Newsday they had been waiting for as long as two hours.

A source told Newsday that fortnightly-paid drivers had not paid on Thursday in breach of their collective agreement. “People are in disarray, trying to find out where they can get a little something to eat,” said the source.
