Charged with murdering medical attendant

A Moruga man has appeared before a Couva Magistrate charged with the September 21 murder of Aaron Kim Goorachan. Michael George, 29, of Indian Walk, appeared before Senior Magistrate Siumongal Ramsaran in the Couva Magistrates Court yesterday.

He was charged on Saturday by Cpl Randy Ramjag of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region 3 after receiving advice from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard, SC. Goorachan, 24, a medical attendant, of Claxton Bay, was shot in the back multiple times by a gunman near the Couva Extended Care Centre where he worked.

Goorachan had just reported for duty at about 7.30 am when he was shot. He worked at the health facility for the past two years. George is expected to return to court next month.
