‘Mixing cement’ remark vexing

THE EDITOR: Open letter to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.

I don’t think you really meant to put down those of us who mix cement, whether for a living or simply to help ourselves. Your advice to prospective recruits to the Police Service who are criminally inclined, that their place (to paraphrase what you said recently) is really in “mixing cement,” would have antagonised many simply by the way you dismissed our nation’s cement mixers who have historically laid the foundation for much of what you enjoy today. Nevertheless, your point is well taken that the Police Service is no place for corrupt individuals to build their careers. However, in delivering what is essentially a good message you have put your foot in your mouth.

One is only left to believe that despite good intentions, arrogance or hubris as is also evidenced in your well-documented dismissal of women (comparing women with golf courses to be groomed being a recent example) will prove your undoing as it has done to so many others before you.
