TT hockey coach Govia loses his dad

National hockey coach Raphael Govia is currently in mourning after losing his father and former national player Winston Govia who passed away at 10 am yesterday at Westshore Medical Private Hospital. where he was warded since Monday.

Raphael left the unbeaten national team currently competing at the Pan Am Indoor Hockey Cup in Guyana on Wednesday to be at the bedside of his ailing father.

Raphael’s team ended the six-team Round Robin series unbeaten yesterday and will contest the final today against Argentina, with the winner advancing to the Indoor World Cup in Berlin, Germany, next February. The Assistant Coach, Darren Cowie, has assumed the role as head coach in Guyana. Winston was a steward at the Arima Race Club.
