PSC review into top cop post ongoing

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has not yet shortlisted any of the applicants for the post of Commissioner of Police. Yesterday, sources close to the PSC said the process is ongoing and will take longer than was expected because of the need to carefully ensure that people who are shortlisted are qualified.

The source said the process is thorough and up until yesterday the firm hired by the PSC was still shifting through applications.

Sources also said that there were more than 25 applicants for the position of CoP and most of the applicants are members of the TT Police Service from various ranks.

The post of CoP is expected to be filled at the end of the year when the process is completed.
