Trinidad and Tobago’s men’s hockey team romped to their fourth straight victory yesterday, thrashing Mexico 13-2 to continue their strong campaign in the Pan Am Indoor Hockey Cup at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Georgetown, Guyana.

Mexico took a shock lead through Luis Solorzano in the second minute but TT hit back with a double from Akim Toussaint to surge to a 6-1 lead at the break. TT continued to bang in the goals with Jordan Viera completing a beaver-trick, Toussaint getting his hat-trick and a brace each from Aidan De Gannes and Mickell Pierre to finish the rout. TT men will face Canada today at 3.45pm.

Meanwhile, TT women got their first victory of the tournament, getting past hosts Guyana 6-3 in a see-saw affair. TT took a 2-0 lead through Arielle Williams and Krizia Layne but Guyana came storming back to snatch the lead at the half with a brace from Marzana Fiedtkou and one from Nicole Eastman.

But TT women came out the interval full of determination and verve to score four more with a double from Blair Wynne, Layne’s second and Alanna Lewis also finding the target. TT women face Barbados at 1.15pm.
