St Anthony’s edge San Juan 3-2

St Anthony's College kept their chances alive of winning the Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League with a narrow win over San Juan North Secondary in round 12 at the latter’s home ground in San Juan, yesterday.

St Anthony’s led at half-time 2-1 and did enough in the second half to prevail with a 3-2 win in rainy conditions which prevented two of the matches from kicking off. The Fatima-Presentation San Fernando contest and the Shiva Boys-St Mary’s match were postponed because of rain.

The day was marred by controversy as Fyzabad Secondary was suspended from the Premier Division after fielding two ineligible players during the season. Fyzabad were scheduled to play Naparima yesterday.

There were 3-0 victories for both Carapichaima East and Trinity East. Carapichaima East defeated Speyside in Tobago and Trinity College East got past St Augustine Secondary at the former’s school ground. The goals flowed at the Queen’s Royal College Ground with the home team recording a 4-2 win over Signal Hill, while St Benedict’s College held on to defeat Trinity College 3-2.
