Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial, 38, gave birth to a baby girl, Anuja Vivya Barrath, her second child Monday last at 10.30 am at St Augustine Private Hospital, on the heels of her son, Roodra Vedan Barrath, three.

“The baby is fine. I’m recuperating and just taking it easy.” Saying she had a normal term, she added, “It was not a roller coaster pregnancy.”

She was full of praise for her obstetrician Dr Sherene Kalloo, who saw her through a smooth delivery. “She was really good, excellent in everything.”

Ramdial liked the idea of promoting the family unit and the role of children. “To have a healthy nation, we must first have a healthy family unit.”

She had well managed her pregnancy thanks to her strong support system at home of family and in-laws. While herself not in the kitchen this Divali, she said, “My Mum’s just dropped some stuff for me.” While taking some maternity leave, she was liaising with her good constituency team regarding yesterday’s flooding, and is available for any parliamentary votes.
