GARY CARDINEZ

Lord make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love.

These are the first two lines in the credit union prayer and the Western Union Credit Union (WESCU) launched Credit Union Month (October) with a function showing love to its past presidents last week at its office on Fitt Street in Woodbrook.

Kwasi Thomas presents Ian McLean with his token.

The theme for the month is Dreams Strive Here and several functions have been held since but International Credit Union Day will be celebrated tomorrow.

Secretary of WESCU’s Board Gizelle Russell presents Alvin Narine with his token.

WESCU’s past presidents were very pleased to see they were honoured for their hard work in bringing the credit union to what it is today. Current president Steadman Hazell said he was very impressed with the work recorded from the five men who came before him.

Chairman of the youth arm Michael Toby receives the token for Edward Garcia from manager Jamila Draper.

Four of the five past presidents Alvin Narine, Roland Graham, Ian McLean and Mark Hughes were on hand to receive tokens of appreciation and see their pictures permanently displayed on WESCU’s Hall of Fame. Edward Garcia did not make the function because of health reasons.
