Abraham earns Masters Cycling bronze

Veteran Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Emile Abraham earned a bronze medal at the International Cycling Union 2017 Masters Track Cycling World Championships in Los Angeles, USA, on Sunday.

Abraham, one of this country’s most successful endurance riders, copped bronze in the men’s 40-44 20K points race final.

Abraham, who recently competed in the Tobago International Cycling Classic and the Beacon Cycling on the Avenue in Trinidad, earned 19 points in the race. American Jeromy Cottell won gold after earning 24 points and Jonathan Harris of Great Britain was second with 21 points.

Abraham also competed in the men’s 40-44 10K scratch race, placing eighth in the final. American Jonathan Davy won gold, Cottell was second and Justin Mckie of Great Britain took home bronze.

In heat two of the 7.5K scratch race, Abraham booked a spot in the final after finishing seventh in the heat. The top 10 in each of the two heats advanced to the final.
