3 killed in South accident

A vehicular accident at Woodland, on the outskirts of San Fernando claimed the lives of three men yesterday when their car crashed into a bridge and landed into the nearby river and became submerged.

The victims were yet to be positively identified, however preliminary reports revealed they were not from the area. Police reports state that shortly after 1 pm, the driver of a black Peugeot car was proceeding along Rahamut Trace, Woodland, where it crashed into a bridge and landed in the river. All three occupants are believed to have drowned.

The victims appared to be in their early 20’s, police said. One of the men, had a tattoo on his body with the word ‘Sunil’. San Fernando Police as well as officers from the Mon Repos Fire Station responded. The bodies were later fished out of the water and the vehicle wrecked. Cpl Mohammed of the San Fernando Police Station is investigating.
