Budget exposes cluelessness of Govt

THE EDITOR: Once again the Dr Keith Rowley administration seems helpless and clueless about the management of the country’s resources and attending to the welfare of the people.

The 2017-2018 budget exposes the glaring incompetence of the Government’s approach to reducing the hardships inflicted on citizens. The galloping unemployment rate screams for urgent attention. As does the spiralling crime situation. The health sector is also poorly neglected with many health centres understaffed and lacking essential drugs.

Another vastly neglected area is agriculture. What are we doing to cut down on our high food import bill? And it is not that we don’t have the land.

Apparently the Government is hell-bent on undermining access to funding and training programmes set in place by the former People’s Partnership government.

Instead of building on PP projects to feed the people and provide employment, the Government is shamelessly dismantling the proactive and creative works of the previous government.

The country cannot continue like this much longer. It is either the Government steps up or steps down.
