Gospel music singer Denton “Gitta Dan” Peschier has passed away after suffering from an undisclosed illness. News of his passing hit social media yesterday and since then, several members of the gospel community have expressed condolences to family members.
In a Facebook post, his wife Amma Pilgrim revealed that he had been ill, but did not want the public to know the circumstances relating to his illness. “He was a true soldier. Rest in peace my love. Heaven is rejoicing... No more pain!” his wife wrote on her Facebook page.
Peschier released his latest single, “Refuge and Fortress” earlier this year and consistently released songs yearly.
He was most known for his guitar skill and his ability to mimic the voices of several well-known dancehall artists including Buju Banton. No details were forthcoming on his funeral.
