Baby crushed to death

Police were at the scene last night of a tragedy in which a 15-month-old baby girl was knocked down and killed by a car after walking out of her apartment home unnoticed by relatives.

Sketchy news coming to hand was that at 6 pm, the child walked out of the house through the front door which was left open by a teenage relative. The child stood in the road and was knocked down by a car whose driver did not see her because of low visibility owing to heavy rain which was falling at the time.

When he felt the car hitting an object, the driver pulled to the side of the road and on checking, saw the child’s crushed and bleeding body on the road.

A report was made to the police and a party of officers from the Valencia Police Post arrived and were still at the scene up to press time. Investigations are continuing.
