Car on fire at Arima licensing office

Fire destroyed a red Nissan Tiida car early yesterday morning at the Arima Licensing Office. Cause of the fire is undetermined.

Firemen from the Arima Fire station a call for help at 11.01 am.

Fireman Ramcharan said the car bearing license plate number PCB 5707 was driven by Peter Ramkissoon of Chinapoo Road, Morvant.

“The car was destroyed by fire. It took 500 litres of water to put out the blaze and the cause of the fire is undetermined. The vehicle cost $60,000, damage was done to 90 percent of the car. We reached Licensing Office at 11.05 am and the blaze was put out within five to ten minutes. We came back to station in an hour’s time. It did not take long to put out the fire,” Ramcharan said.

He said fire sub-officer Candler, fire officer Dick, Ramjattan, St Louis and Duncan all assisted in dousing the flames. Both police and firemen are continuing investigations.
