Neha Karina highlights ‘Rani Dust’

A love story told through clothing is how Neha Dawar chose to unveil the Neha Karina Rabta Collection at Hilton Trinidad last Saturday.

Speaking with Newsday after the show, Dawar said there is a "growing demand for Neha Karina's hand-stitched, detailed, quality work."

Part proceeds from the event, "Rani Dust- A fashion Journey to a Royal Wedding", will be donated to the Rapid Fire Kids Foundation.

Dawar said she was "tired of the traditional fashion show format" and wanted to present her designs in a new, engaging way. Hence the clothing included "date night", "beach lime" and of course, "wedding wear" designs, shown in that order, as the couple progressed in their relationship.

Dawar credited her makeup and hair style team and sponsors for helping her realise her vision for the Rabta Collection presentation.

"Women empowering women is our (mantra) at Neha Karina. This show could not have taken place without three amazing women: Tricia Coosal of Top Class Distributors (TCD) who was our official makeup sponsor; Face Me Artistry by Alicia Nelson; and Image Perfection by Aneesa Haidarali."

Asked about having to do makeup for 53 designs, Nelson was full of praise for the Graftobian Pro High Definition (Graftobian) line; TCD is its official and sole distributor in Trinidad and Tobago.

"Graftobian was specifically designed for the stage environment but it can also be used in everyday life - it can handle the intense heat, the bright lights, the long hours, it photographs well. So it's a product that is really, really flexible. It made my work easier tonight," Nelson said.
