Valencia man charged with co-worker’s murder

A Valencia man appeared before a Sangre Grande Magistrate yesterday, charged with the August 21 murder of Richard Sorzano.

According to a statement from the TT Police Service, Ricardo Jagroop, aka ‘Apache,’ 25, a quarry operator, of Clarence Trace, Valencia, was also charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

The advice to lay the charges was given by Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions George Busby on Monday.

Sorzano, aka ‘Stinka’, 32, a quarry operator, of Melajo Road, Vega de Oropouche, was found dead by co-workers at the quarry site where he works, at Rio Grande Trace, Matura, on August 21.

He had gunshot wounds to the face, chest and hand.

The victim was involved in an altercation with a co-worker at the quarry over job related issues on August 19 and on the Monday he was found dead at the job site.

Jagroop, was charged by PC Sean Thomas of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2.
