$236 million goes to POS

The Port-of-Spain City Corporation has received the largest allocation for expenditure in the 2017/2018 Budget, out of the 14 local government bodies in Trinidad. According to the 2018 Draft Estimates of Recurrent Expenditure, the corporation received $235,759,966. The local government body receiving the smallest allocation of $68,106,000 was the Point Fortin Borough Corporation. Both corporations are controlled by the ruling People's National Movement.

Of the corporations controlled by the Opposition United National Congress (UNC), the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation received the largest sum of $ $117,781,000. The UNC corporation receiving the smallest sum was the Siparia Regional Corporation, with an allocation of $79,651,000. The allocations for all 14 corporations for 2018 are the same as they were for 2017. Under the Rural Development and Local Government Ministry, CEPEP's expenditure has been lowered from $433,535,500 in 2017 to $358,000,000.

No allocation for expenditure has been made to the Rural Development Company for 2018. The document shows the company receiving an allocation of $5,833,674 in 2016. The overall allocation for the ministry has decreased from $2,172,410,510 to $2,099,371,110 from 2017 to 2018.
