Miracles still happen in TT

THE EDITOR: Let me state up front that I am in complete support of whatever assistance can be rendered to Dominica and other hurricane-ravaged countries. But what I heard on the news was jaw-dropping, to say the least.

You would understand if you ever tried to get your son transferred to Fatima College or St Mary’s College. I’m sure many people know the drill, it’s like talking to a brick wall. Absolutely no way can they take another student.

Hence my jaw dropped when I heard on the news that Fatima’s principal, Fr Gregory Augustine, promised the Minister of Education that “schools that fall under the jurisdiction of the Holy Ghost Fathers, St Mary’s College, St Anthony’s College and Fatima College, will be opening their doors for those (Dominican) students.” It’s a pity they won’t do that for local students.

At least we know that miracles can happen in TT for this is the modern-day equivalent of squeezing blood out of stone. It’s amazing what we can do if only we put our minds to it.
