Morvant Caledonia edge Civic

Morvant Caledonia United snatched a second consecutive Pro League win and third in all competitions with a narrow 1-0 win over hosts Point Fortin Civic on Tuesday in a rescheduled fixture.

Eighteen-year-old Trinidad and Tobago youth attacker Renaldo Francois made the best of a start in Morvant Caledonia colours for his first top-flight goal after just five minutes at the Mahaica Oval and it turned out the winner for coach Jamaal Shabazz’s side.

The win, only Morvant Caledonia’s third of the 2017 league campaign, improved the Eastern Stallions’ sixth position to 13 points, one behind San Juan Jabloteh (14 points), who have two games in hand, and three more than three-time defending champions Central FC and Police FC (10 points).

Civic (9 points) meanwhile, are second-from-bottom, only ahead of cellar-placed St. Ann’s Rangers by a point and have been defeated in their last three league outings.
