Leading Lady heads O’Brien foursome in Oaks

Dual classic winner Leading Lady will have a new rider in her saddle when she lines up for the Oaks Stakes at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, on Republic Day holiday Monday.

The John O’Brien-trained winner of the Midsummer Classic and blue riband Massy United Insurance Trinidad Derby will have 2015 champion jockey Prayven Badrie in her saddle for the 1750 metres race for fillies only.

And Chevan Maharaj’s daughter of Adore The Gold/My Legacy showed she will not be easily betn with a fluent gallop over 800 metres at Santa Rosa Park yesterday morning timed in 49.4 seconds.

Stablemate Rockewt Wheels was clocked in 488.1 seconds for the same distance.

And a third O’Brien charge, Alruna went over 1000 metres timed in one minute 02.1 seconds.

Meanwhile, Valorous who disappointed in the Derby will be seeking to make amends in the Caribbean Champion Stakes over 18000 meres, and will be ridden this time by Ivan Urdaneta for new trainer Glenn Mendez.
