Club Sando Moruga edge Harlem in Super League Cup

JESSIE EDWARDS registered a hat-trick as Club Sando Moruga edged Harlem Strikers 4-3 last Wednesday, in the First Round of the TT Super League’s Caribbean Football Trust Limited (CFTL)-sponsored League Cup competition.

At the Grand Chemin Recreation Ground, the hosts benefitted from an own goal in the 25th minute from Keston Raphael to take a 1-0 lead, before Akil London replied in the 35th.

Edwards then got his name on the scoresheet three times, within the space of 14 minutes – with items in the 41st, 43rd and 55th. London also notched a treble, as he struck again in the 71st and 90th, but Club Sando Moruga held firm until the final whistle.

Bethel United eliminated Petit Valley/Diego Martin United 6-5, via kicks from the penalty spot, after the scores were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time at the Mt Gomery Recreation Ground.

Kleon Melville, Makan Hislop, Anton Simon, Daniel Craig, Teejay Cadiz and Densyl James netted their efforts for Bethel, while Keron Cummings, Josiah Alleyne, Brandon Joseph, Quason Hartman and Keion Goodridge replied for Petit Valley/Diego Marin. However, Kerwin Bonnette missed Petit Valley/Diego Martin’s sixth kick, handing victory to the hosts.

During regulation time, Cadiz (Bethel) and Ishaq Abdullah (Petit Valley/Diego Martin) were the goal-getters for the respective teams.

In the other scheduled meeting last Wednesday, Youth Stars earned a 3-0 win, by default, over Marabella FCC at the Roxborough Complex.
