Smith: UNC loves Lara Stadium

SportsMinister Daryl Smith yesterday said members of the Opposition United National Congress (UNC) now enjoy going to the Brian Lara Stadium and Cricket Academy to watch cricket. He made this comment as he responded to a question in the House of Representatives. He said since the facility was opened, the number of car park spaces has been increased from 1,600 to over 2,000 spots. He also said the facility's lighting inside and outside of the stadium is working well.

Government MPs thumped their desks as Smith said he saw a number of UNC MPs, "enjoying the games (at Brian Lara Stadium) on Thursday)." He said some of their constituents were "very happy and thanked me publicly. In response to another question, Smith said the cost of catering at the Academy's opening was just under $100,000. He congratulated the TT Knight Riders for qualifying for last night's T20 CPL Final.
