Penal man dies in accident, two injured

One man is dead and two others have been injured following a vehicular accident in Penal early yesterday morning.

Dead is Ashmeed Manoo, 29, of Katwaroo Trace, Penal.

A police report stated that his brother Ameer Manoo, 26, and their friend Roshan Mooklal, 19, sustained injuries and the latter was warded at the San Fernando General Hospital.

According to the report, at about 2 am yesterday, the younger Katwaroo was driving a car along the SS Erin Road in the company of his brother and their friend. Upon reaching the vicinity of Ramjattan Trace, the car veered off the road and crashed into a concrete culvert.

Police said that the trio were taken to the hospital where Manoo died shortly after he arrived.

Police said that minutes before the incident, the three had left J’s Restaurant and Bar at Batchya Village, Penal, and were returning home.

Ameer was attended to and was discharged from the hospital. However, up to late yesterday, Mooklal remained warded at hospital in a serious condition.

Penal police are investigating.
