Whisper Light ready for Independence Cup

SURPRISE President’s Cup winner Whisper Light is ready for all challengers in this year’s running of the Independence Cup on Independence Day at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, next week Thursday.

The four-year-old Errol Stables-owned gelding sprinted 1000 metres at Santa Rosa Park on Sunday morning, timed in one minute 02.0 seconds. And the Glenn Mendez-trained runner appeared to be enjoying his gallop throughout.

But John O’Brien-trained “Horse of the Year” Thisonesforron showed he will be challenging very strongly in the 1800 metres on the turf with a sizzling run over the same trip clocked in 59.4 seconds.

The improving Stockyard who also holds the engagement was clocked in 49.0 for a 800 metres gallop.

Trini Navigator who will also feature in the race went over 1000 metres timed in one minute 04.3 seconds. And another in the “big race” Magical Victory from the John O)’Brien barn had a pleasing run over 800 metres timed in 50.1 seconds.
