Northern Division police found a pistol and four rounds of ammunition during an exercise conducted in Lopinot last Friday.

Police said they were conducting the exercise between the hours of 6 am and 11am in Arouca.

Police officers received information which led them to a bushy area at Surrey Village, Lopinot. A search was conducted in the area and police found a black and silver coloured pistol along with .38 mm ammunition under a tyre.

No arrests were made in connection with the find.
